Imperial Irish Coffee Chocolate Milk Oatmeal Oyster Stout

Stout is a very old style of beer. It’s been around since 1700’s at least. The style has always been loved but it’s not always been popular. The running joke is “want a knife and fork to go with your beer” is unfounded. Stout, while thick and creamy, is often lighter, smoother and more flavorful then some icky American lagers. There are many different recipes for Stout including: Irish, Imperial, Milk, Oatmeal, Chocolate, Coffee and Oyster. Some consider the Porter style to be a Stout as well as the Stout style grew out of Porter beer. Today most breweries consider the styles to be distinct.

Tell us what Kangaroo tastes like. Or send us Kangaroo.

Actually the homework is stouts. Try random stouts but skip Guiness. Try different styles of stout.. Or try Guiness vs Guiness vs Guiness (the bottle that has no widget, bottle with a widget, and the can with a widget).

I’m doing my homework as we listen! Guinness in a bottle. Make that two. The only thing that bothers me is, what does the widget look like? and how do they know I won’t just pour it into a glass? then the widget is pretty much useless. :-(

My wife and I tried several of the stouts you had on your show. We especially like the Oatmeal stout and 2nd the Imperial stout. My wife never considered herself a big beer drinking but I think she is coming over to the dark (stout) side.
